Well it's been a while since I updated you! But we have kept busy with all the "puppy chores". Holly's 2 girls are doing great-10oz and 12oz at 6 weeks of age-they are adorable! Today we started them on puppy chow moistened in milk. They are loving it!
Dixie's boys are bruisers! They are going to be 8lb or so as adults-must be a recessive gene, but you couldn't ask for more adorable kids. They are spending the days on the back porch so they have room to run and play! They are joined by their smaller sister-she will be 6lb all grown up, and she just might be one of my new breeders!
Glory's pups are also doing great. Her two boys are already sold, as are 2 of the girls! The smallest girl (3 1/2lb as adult) and one of the "larger" girls (5 lb as adult) are the only ones without new parents yet. Of course, they are all too young to go to their new homes yet, they still have another week or so. Due to their small size, they are a little slower on eating their dry food-so it is still being moistened with milk.
At this stage it takes a lot of time and patience to work with the puppies on their socialization skills. They spend a lotof time in the house, in the living room, kitchen ....., so there is a lot of cleaning up to do! We have potty pad all over, but they do not have a lot of control yet, so paper towels and pinesol spray is always close at hand!
This stage is very labor and time intensive, but oh so worth it as you sit on the floor at night with sleepy pups draped all over you! There is no love like that of a puppy!
