Abigail finally had her pups on Feb 11th. She kept her mom up all night on the 10th and once I finally fell asleep (daddy took over) she started delivering 2 hours later! She was slow to deliver, waiting an hour or two between pups. The final count was 3 girls and 2 boys!
I am happy to say that all the pups are doing great-I expect the eyes to be open on all the pups by later today-some started opening yesterday! Abigail is a great mother and the pups are getting fat!
I will have some new pictures up soon.

For everyone following Abigails progress, we are still on hold! She is round as a butterball but still hanging onto her pups! We are hoping for 4, maybe 5 pups.
Abby dearly loves her toys and cow ears. It is rare to find her without something in her mouth-if not a cow ear or toy, she will pick up a rock or stick. She is quite the character! She is one of my original pups from Summer-the girl who started my passion for raising yorkies! This will probably be Abigail's last litter-she has earned her retirement. But before that, she has to raise this litter for us!
Stay tuned for updates!

The last "adopted" puppy officially went home the 14th of January-Clinton, Autumn's pup went to live with Michelle and her chihuahua kids! Since then, Tal and I have had a slight breather. The goat kids are down to 1 bottle a day, no girls are currently in heat and we have a short vacation coming up! But all is not dull--Kahlua's little girl, now named Jewel, has joined our household! She is fast becoming buddies with Rockie (Pebbles neutered boy) and they can be found snuggling in the puppy bed each morning and evening.
To say Jewel is head strong is an understatement-She is going to require some "tough love". Tal is looking into the puppy classes at Petsmart so that he can also learn some tips about training her and future litters. We have already had good progress in teaching her that biting about the face is not nice-we much prefer kisses! She is being transitioned into a kennel at night and we are already getting a few "pee free" nights.
Abigail is our next mom-due around Feb 10th. She is already developing quite the belly! She is still 3 weeks out-might be a fairly big litter. We already have several people on the waiting list for the new kids! We are truly blessed.

Anyone with a new puppy knows that a Christmas Tree is hazardous-now multiply that times 11! Needless to say, we had to forgo the tree this year in regards for safety of the pups-but we still had a joyous Christmas!
There is nothing like 11 puppies tearing across the floor and rolling under your feet to put a smile on our face! The antics of the pups at this age is priceless! I feel like a mom with a full knidergarden class at recess! The evenings are spent wiping up piddle spots (potty training is in full swing, but takes a while) breaking up puppy fights (just playful, but have to be careful!) and laying on the floor while the pups jump and play all over you!
Playtime is interrupted by episodes of administering worming meds, trimming nails, taping (or untaping) ears, grooming paw pads and bottoms, weigh time and photos!
Soon it will be time for all the new moms and dads to pick up their new "kids"-I sure am going to miss them! One boy of Daisy's, Sonny, went home to be a Christmas surprise for twin 8 year old girls! I hear he was a hit! 4 more pups will go home over this weekend-Lucky parents!!
But we will not be lonely for long-I still have 3 pups available and then another litter due in February!!

Another busy week at "yorkie central"! All the litters are now up and playing on the rug every evening. It's a laugh a minute watching them interact with each other and the other adult yorkies!
Last night everyone got a shot at being a star! Photos were taken and posted to the photo gallery. Everyone was then treated to an ear shaving and toe nail trims. Those that need help with ear training, were given "ear trainers" to assist those ears in standing up!
All the pups had a grand time and soon retired to the assorted doggy beds to rest before playing again. The night concluded with warm milk over nutro puppy chow for all!

It's been a busy 10 days here on the farm. Lots of baby goats being born! We started out on a bad note when we lost the mother of our first set of twin girls to milk fever. The good news is that the twins are doing great. They took to the bottle after only one or two tube feedings and now look to us for their meals 4 times a day! The remaining 5 girls all had their kids without incident! 4 more sets of twins and one single. I had the good fortune of witnessing one of the births and getting some good photos and video footage. We now have 9 girl and 2 boy "kids" jumping around the farm-nothing like a baby goat to put a smile on your face!
Now the yorkie's are not too sure about the 2 girls invading their front yard! They are having a hard time understanding that the funny, long legged, maaaa maaaaing animals are not a threat to them!
Meanwhile, inside the house, the yorkie pups are doing great-everyone is gaining weight and only Kahlua's pups need daily weights due to their small size. Everyone has transitioned back to the puppy pens in the bedroom-I can actually see my rug and floors now in the living room! That will be short lived as the pups are starting to come out of the pens every evening for playtime on the living room rug and floor. Daisy's pups are first and it won't be long before Glory's pups will be running around too.

One week has passed and we officially have a houseful of pups! Autumn had her 2 males last Wed. One of the fellas gave us quite the scare, not wanting to gain weight or nurse properly. After a bit of hydrating, several days of nutrical to stimulate the appetite, and checking weights several times a day, we are finally making headway! He is latching on well and gaining weight every day.
So far we have 3 sets of pups in 3 pools lined up in the living room and the other set of pups have graduated to the puppy pens in the "Yorkie Bedroom". Each morning and evening routine includes changing papers, cleaning bowls, fresh water and food, a bowl of wet puppy food (for the moms to give them extra calories) weighing pups and giving the wormers on the appropriate days.
The Moms get lots of attention in between-in and out of the pens as they request, playtime in the yard while it is sunny out and grooming time in between. Never a dull moment at the Strickland house!

It has been a busy week-transitioning back from vacation, birthing 2 litters of pups and turning our living room into a "pup nursery"! What a sight-3 blue birthing/puppy pools with protective cages around each one and "privacy screens" to boot; all lined up in the living room! This allows us to keep a close eye on the pups and moms while allowing the other yorkies to stay in the room but out of sight of the protective moms.
Papers are continuously changed to keep everyone clean, moms are rotated outside for exercise and potty time, and pups are watched to be sure everyone is nursing well. We weigh the pups every few days to be sure they are gaining weight. The moms are placed on puppy food and given extra meals of canned puppy food to keep up good milk production.
Kahlua and Glory's pups went for their tail dockings and dew claw removal yesterday-they were champs and did great! More pics have been posted in the photo gallery for your enjoyment. I added a 2nd photo album for the Sold Pups as the first was getting too big!
I have reservations for at least 4, and maybe 5 of the pups already, so if you are waiting-don't!
Yorkie Hugs! Diane

It has been one busy week here on Strickland Farms! Glory went on to have a total of 3 pups-2 boys and 1 girl, so now the count is 4 boys and 2 girls. On Thursday morning, Kahlua decided that she had been pregnant long enough and delivered 4 pups! All within approx 2 hours! She delivered them so fast that Glory had to leap in and help clean up one of the pups for her-and Kahlua was happy for the help!
In the end, Kahlua had 3 girls and 1 boy-so the final count is now 5 boys and 5 girls!
All the pups are doing great-Daisy's are getting fat, Glory's are steadily gaining and Kahlua's pups put on weight in the first 12 hours-so all is well.
The first few weeks are easy, keep moms fed, be sure pups and moms are gaining and maintaining weight, and keep the birthing/pup pools clean until they are big enought to transfer to the puppy pens. The real fun begins when the pups start to walk and we will have wall to wall (or should I say floor to floor) pups playing in the house!

Busy evening in the Strickland house! Glory went into labor - So far she has delivered 2 boys and has at least 1 more to go! This is Glory's first litter. Tonka Toy is the dad.
Daisy's pups are doing great-she is a really good mom!
Stand by for further updates!
